Many of you have asked me to share more smoothie recipes because work, family and busy schedules limit our time and we all want to make something quick and delicious. For some busy moms it feels like a victory when everyone in the family enjoys the same smoothie recipe before starting the day. Some days, we also need a little extra energy to get through the day.
This is one of my favorite energizing smoothie recipes. It is exciting, nutrient dense and adds that extra magic to get through the day. It’s light, creamy, energy boosting and loaded with antioxidants, natural anti-inflammatory and immune boosting properties. Enjoy!
- ½ cup unsweetened almond milk or your favorite milk of choice
- 1 whole McIntosh apple with skin
- ½ ripe banana, peeled and cut
- ½ an avocado
- ½ tsp. fresh ginger root
- 1 handful of fresh mint
- A few parsley leaves
- 1 Tbs. raw shelled hempseeds
- 3 whole raw almonds
- 1 Tbsp. flax seeds
- ½ tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 cup ice cubes
NOTE: For extra sweetness you can add 1 tsp. raw honey or a pinch of organic stevia powder.
Place the flax seeds, almonds and hemp seeds in a blender and blend for 30 seconds. Add milk to it and blend for 30 seconds for an extra creaminess.Add the rest of the ingredients and blend for 1 minute (Depending on your blender, blend until you obtain the desired consistency) Pour in glass and sprinkle with some flax seeds and unsweetened coconut flakes. It’s best to drink smoothies right away to get the optimal benefit from the nutrients
